Red Island Beach Banyuwangi also called Pulau Merah located on the coast of Sumber Agung Village, Pesanggaran Subdistrict, Banyuwangi. This destination itself is in Pancer Bay has attracted tourists through its form that resembles the mountains that stands in the middle of the beach.

This place is enchented Beach, the amazing views seem when its water clarity form as though a crystal and its white sand that stretches along 3 km adds its beauty.

In the eastern side of Pulau Merah Banyuwangi, there is a mountain ridge and large number of coconut and banana trees make the island appear fertile. The visitors will catch all views from the south of Red Island also can enjoy the beauty of the sunset.

When the sea has recedes, The visitors can visit this place by walking enjoy the uniqueness of a small mountain in the middle of the beach able decorated of the Red Island, When the water is tide, red soil will looks clearly. This beach called RED ISLAND because the edge of the beach rocks look like a red colored land. First time, the original name derived from Ringin Pitu Beach.

Red Island Surfing

The big waves on Pancer Bay of Pulau Merah are mostly favorited by surfing enthusiasts especially European visitors. At certain times, there huge foreigners enjoying the Red Island Surfing. They very like make surfing in this coast because this beach has a cool atmosphere supported with lined green mountains and clear water.

The waves condition is very suitable for Surfer beginners because the wave condition is not too hard like Plengkung Beach waves, Plengkung Surfing mostly used for professional surfers.

The red island has not many coral reefs like in Plengkung Beach, so it is safer for surfing beginners. The sea breeze is arguably quite toned, causing relatively high ocean waves, reaching 4-5 meters. Nothing surprised if many people say that the tourism area seems like Kuta Beach, Legian, and Seminyak. Red Island is perfect for surfing school.

Although the Red or Pulau Merah surfing has been equipped with the lifeguard, Red Island visitors are still expected to be careful and must obey directives have given by officers to consider that the waves in the waters of the Red Island is quite large at sometime when almost the water is tide. The caution of visitors and ignoring lifeguard appeals may result in unruly dragging currents or injuries caused by corals.

Not too far from Red Island, there is Pura Segara Tawang Alun. This is a Hinduism temple that was built in 1980, frequently visited by Hindus from Mount Bromo and Bali Island. At the time of the tsunami in 1994, the outer wall of this temple was devastated from the brunt of the violent waves. But only inside of the building that meant Palinggih Padmasana (did not suffer significant damage).
